Smile Gun Shops in York

I see that the Lancaster forum has a thread listing some of their favorite gun shops and thought that those of us west of the river could exchange some of the same info. Some of the shops that I frequent:
- John Shupp's Gunsmithing - Flat out one of the nicest guys around and a nice neat little shop. He has an intersting collection from the 'old timers' who frequent his shop. Definitly worth a look to see what he has new that pops in from time to time and he is an awesome gunsmith.
- Stony Brook Gun Shop - Lots of selection but prices are somewhat on the high side. Nice guys in the shop most of the time. (they frequent alot of local gun shows)
- Gander Mountan - hey...they do have mostly eveything. Prices are so-so.
- Trop Gun Shop - E-town. - nice with lots of selection.

Anyone have more that they shop at?

I'd recommend this one also:

Artistic Edges
385 Leaders Heights Rd
York, PA
(717) 741-1750

This is a gun shop (mostly sporting-type shotguns) run by a really nice guy, combined with an art gallery run by his wife.

I agree that Stonybrook Shooting Supplies and Shupp's are two very good stores also.

I prefer Kinsey just about a 1/4 mile up from Trop's. Better prices and nicer people

Stoney Brooke...the owner is a nice guy, but his prices aren't the best...I used to visit his shop to BS, but I never bought a firearm from him.

Oops... almost forgot the best gun store/indoor range I've ever been to...

Freedom Armory
2nd Amendment Drive
Glen Rock PA 17327
http://www.freedomarmory.com/

Great selection of new and used handguns, rifles, and shotguns. 12 bay indoor handgun range (25 yards) and 12 bay indoor rifle range (50 yards I think). Very professional, knowledgable, courteous staff. Also have some great NRA training classes. They also have guns to rent at the range (including a full auto rifle). They prices seem to be about the norm.

I highly recommend them.

Chris

im gonna have to agree with Chris on Freedom Armory. Scott(the owner) is definately a nice guy and very knowledgeable. ive bought a few guns from him in the past and would definately buy there again. i still have to get down there to check out the new store/range though. but everyone i talk to that HAS been there says its awesome. As far as Artistic Edges goes....i heard about some kind of shady stuff that goes on around there. i, personally, keep my distance from that place......MY OPINION.

I've been to freedom, they seem a bit steep. I bought my XD from Shupps, He's a very knowledgable guy. You'll be lucky to beat his prices.

Back woods outfitters has good deals own used stuff and new as well.

Gander mountain is an excellent stop.

Stoneybrook is my best spot, nice crew and descent prices.

Freedom armory is a great place to shoot but everything else is expensive there.

Backwoods is a great little shop. They're located in Columbia, about 2 miles from the Prospect Rd. exit off of Route 30. Their selection of used stuff is excellent and changes all the time. His prices are very, very good too. He's only 15 minutes from York - DEFINITELY worth checking out.
