Question Union County carry permit application process?

I'm a PA resident in the military and I'm looking to obtain a PA carry permit. Anyone here know if you have to apply in person? As well as what all you need to apply? I will be home the second week in April and if it is not too lenghty of a process I'd like to apply while I'm there. I still have not found anything specific to Union County online as to the application process. Any info would be welcome Thanks!!

Union County doesnt seem to have a very robust website lol

We have now updated our pistol permits to offer the new photo ID but we still offer the paper permit to the licensee. All applicants must receive an approval certification from the Pennsylvania Instant Check System. The Sheriff's Office also sends a notice to all previous applicants as a reminder to renew the permit, in which the response to this has proven very appreciative.

Hope this helps!

You can find all information about Union county from our County database located at:

From there you'll find links to the Union county sheriff website regarding carry permits.

If you have trouble getting anything online let me know I live in Union Co. and work in the court house. I should be able to get you an application and mail it to you if you need. The process is simple, stop by the sheriff's office, fill out the form ( I think you will need at least 1 form of ID not sure on this) they will do a check through PICS then issue the permit. If there's someone in the office they should be able to do it for you right then. I've always gotten my permit right away, no wait. I'm not sure but I don't think they have the paper permits anymore just the photo id.

Just wanted to thank all of you for the help. I got my license this past Monday, it was a real easy process. A heck of a lot better than here in S.C.. It was great getting back up home again, been two years. I loved the snow flurries on Sunday (Easter), my wife didn't, she likes warm weather.

Again, Thanks!!
