Default Linkedin Groups

I use www.linkedin.com as a professional networking site. Firearms rights groups are starting to use it as well. There are a couple NRA related groups and an IPSC group.

Would it be appropriate to start a PAFOA group? and if so - can one of the moderators create it?
Thanks,
Frank

Great idea. I have used linkedin for several years and I would love to be associated with a PAFOA group.

A friend of mine just recently sent me an invite to linkedin. Can you explain to me what it is? I never clicked on the link she sent me because I had no idea what it is.

I've been using it for about 7 years now. It's a professional networking site, kind of like (and they'll hate being called this) a Facebook for professionals. A lot of different industries are represented, and it seems to be growing at an impressive rate. IIRC they're talking about an IPO, too.

What it's great for:
- reconnecting with former co-workers, friends etc
- asking questions from experts in their fields
- finding out about company culture
- you can set your own access levels or 'findability' (e.g. you can set it so that anyone who has your email address(es) can find you in LinkedIn)

What's annoying about it:
- recruiters will pester you, not so much because they want to be your best friend, but because you have connections that they want to cold call. But this is easily handled.

As I say - I've been on it for about 7 years and no big complaints, no excess spam etc. Less fun/more professional than Facebook.

Scallywag said it well. I've used linked in to hire people and to check out the background of companies when I was looking for a job. Firearms groups are getting on here - VCDL (the VA equivalent of PAFOA) has a group as does the NRA and USPSA. I like to know if peopel I'm talking to are into firearms.

I recognize that not all will be willing to publicly join such a group.

There is an option to only show the group membership to other members of the group...

I'm on Linkedin. I would be willing to join a firearms group as well.

aye, I'm also on LinkedIn. I think the site is decent, though I don't know about the price for the other membership levels.

I'll join if a group is created.

I'll set up the group - but I need some graphic help.
To set the group it needs

a 100x50 pixels; PNG, JPEG, GIF; max size 100 KB to be displayed on the group page

and a 60x30 pixels; PNG, JPEG, GIF; max size 100 KB to be displayed on the profile pages of group members - can someone point me to these or create them?

if you can get me some user picutures of some carbines and handguns I'll make one. They must be pictures from users who grant the use of them in the image, then can photoshop some up.
