Number of Posts to Show Per Page?

I have this set in the options to 40, but still get only 25 posts per page. Am I misunderstanding this setting?

I had mine set lower than that, but switched it just to see what would happen. I cannot duplicate your issue. It worked properly for me.

The 40 per is within one thread, not the overview of all the various threads in the forum view which is set to 25 per page.

Aha...I got it now. Yes, I am seeing 40 per page now on each thread (the ones that have that many). And seeing 25 on forum view (40 would be nice here too). That doesn't seem changeable anywhere.

I WAS misunderstanding it. It could be a little more clear on that setting though as to what is actually meant.

Actually it is, the difference is "posts to show in a thread" meaning one particular thread, the forum view shows threads with a new post, for which there is no personailzed setting, as you pointed out.

Number of Posts to Show Per Page

Use this option to set the number of posts to show in a thread before splitting the display into multiple pages.
