... activate "HTML" and "Smilies" for my posting? I seem to have managed everything else BUT that, in almost 6 mos. on here... D'OHHH!

Can't answer the first part... for me, smilies are right there in my "toolbar" above the message box, along with "bold", "italic", "font", "color", etc...




As for the second question...

OK - here's what I got down in the lower left corner of my screen;

vB code is On
Smilies are On
[IMG] code is On
HTML code is Off
Trackbacks are On
Pingbacks are On
Refbacks are Off

I had been getting "smilies: OFF," even thought they WERE working for me. I guess I'm just trying to figure out, how some folks manage to import OTHER smilies into their posts... because I can't!

Bob, I don't really understand smilies,(how they work/how you get them)but here's where I get the ones I use that aren't in the drop-down menu.

A member posted these and I must apologize, but I can't remember who to thank for them.
I just open another window with them in it, click on one that I want and drag it into my message.

Ok, whats the secret? How to I ACTUALLY use the smileys? How do you open them in another window and drag them? Doesn't seem to work for me. I need that dopey/stupid smiley now. After you reply to this post, I will really need the headbanging smiley!

Oh, I forget... I'm using a Mac. Things are much simpler in "my world".

I don't know... perhaps if you tried to highlight the smiley, copy it, and paste it into your message window?
I have that smiley web address bookmarked and when I want one, I just open a new window, go there and pick the one I want.

Here's another one I found. It let's you copy the code, and then you simply paste it in your message.

On the other one, I can copy/paste but they don't move then.
