Question Mossberg 590 Mag Plug

anyone know if it is possible/safe to plug a 590? I emailed Mossberg last week but haven't heard back from them.

Any tube fed shotty can be plugged if you know how.

Cut a piece of dowel rod and pop it inside the tube/ spring. Last I checked, the Mossy factory plugs were wooden dowel rods with 2 rubber o rings on them so they didnt rattle so much.

This is what I did. Works like a charm.

Be safe (and to lawful capacity).

Why the heck would you want to LIMIT the capacity of a shotgun!?!

(maybe a noob question)

Compared to an AR or fullsize 9mm it is already a much smaller capacity, no reason to drop it more...

If you did want to just drop a dowel rod in there.

While hunting you can only have a certain number of rounds. The firearm must restricted to hold said number.

I just stole one of my fiberglass rod driveway reflector markers and lopped off what I needed for my m500.

The old lady(rip) wondered for weeks why one was shorter than the other til she brought the subject up over dinner and I made the mistake of saying what happened..

If you did want to just drop a dowel rod in there.
Testically, the Mossberg 590 is a home defense/high cap shotgun that is mainly used for security/ high output cover shooting.
While you could hunt with it, its capacity to send lead is more then the dipsticks in politics think is fair to send by air mail to a bird or rabbit...

The Mossberg 500 comes with a dowel rod as stated before and 2 O-rings so you can learn how to take it out use the shotgun and now use it with 5 or 6 under one in the tube... (To have fun or clear house with as a self defense gun) The 590 or Mariner is capable of 8 rounds +1 in tube, this makes it very unsafe (say the dipsticks who write the laws) to hunt with as you might actually shoot a rabbit 9 times and incapacitate it.
Yet An other theory is that the Soccer moms asked the Dipsticks to limit the shot output so that hunters would be forced to learn how to drop a duck or any other fowl / rodent animal with a clean 1 - 2 punch of 1 ounce lead beads. Then have to buy other guns to protect their homes.
When you drop your dowel rod in there, make sure it is sharpened at one end, (the end that will come out first when needed) or at the very least have a clean chamfer on it so that you can pull it back out when needed. A simple pencil sharpener will do the trick.

In our next lesson, we wil learn why the dipsticks think it is better to limit pistol mags to 10 rounds or less...
Untill then, If it goes quack, look for signs that is walks like a duck, flies like a duck and smells like a duck and shoot the f'er out of the air!

Happy hunting!

I bet that was easyer then explaining why her favorite wood spoon is missing 8 inches off the handle...
Yes i know, it was a bit thick to go through the hole, but a good round with sand paper and a 3/8 drill would have brought it down to size.
