Rem 870 Bolt disassembly

Has anyone removed the firing pin retaining pin from their 870 bolt? I can't seem to hammer out the pin, and have successfully broken 2 of my punches while in the process of this. Is there something I'm missing? I did a search of this online and have found nothing about this subject.
