Default Reflex/Red Dot for Clay Shooting?

Im just curious, is this a common thing? Does anyone here use a reflex sight on their shotty for shooting clays? Do you find it easier or harder to shoot with a 1x red dot?

no dots of any kind on a clay gun. There is no need for any electronic dots on this type of gun.

Why would you pay $300 or so for a electric dot, when you have a $25 dot (bead) setting on the rib?

Use the red dot money for ammo. Practice is the only answer for breaking clays.

I have to agree with Buckmark... only a bead on the front and MAYBE one in the middle of the rib is all you need for shooting clays..... You shoot with BOTH eyes open. Also you AIM a rifle... you POINT a shotgun... let the pattern do its job.... but again PRACTICE PRACTICE PRACTICE.....

Keep your head down on the stock. Look at the bird. Slap the trigger. Follow through. Do it repeatedly and don't worry about dots and beads.

When I first saw this thread I thought it was about gun powder. I use Red Dot for my skeet loads.

I don't know how you could use a red dot for clays as your angle of shooting would be off depending on the angle

It's been done! I know of a few guys that rigged up their trap guns with red dots, with questionable results. You are really handicapping yourself by "using" any "sighting devices or tools" when it comes to clay sports. Yes, I've seen guys do OK by "aiming" but most will never be great shooters. If you want more advice try the www.trapshooters.com forum.
