to remove the barrels is simple. Make sure it is empty,close the action, flip the gun over and remove the forend. grip the barrells in your left hand and open the action with your right and they will just lift off. Reverse to reassemble.

The Nitro Special I had was from the 1920's, and took standard length field loads. It was a nice hunting gun.
