First off she is a beauty!! Very nice thanks for the pics, I love gun porn!!! Try conditioning it with some Tru Oil, it seems to work well. Careful on the slide you don't need or want that to be slick.

Hey all. I just wanted to say thanks to everyone for their help. Thanks for making me feel welcome here on the forum. It really makes a difference. I'm going to try and come out to the group shoot even though I live a good bit away. Also, thanks for being excited for my "gun porn." I'm glad I'm not the only one that thinks it's awesome.

Thanks for the welcome. You guys all seem like nice people. I look forward to what I can learn from all of you.
Nice looking gun but IMO you could have done better from strictly a self defense standpoint. For one thing this gun is far too long and unwieldy for use in the confines of a house. Better to get one of the pistol gripped variety with the full length magazine. You can buy Mossberg500 police type shotguns that come already equipped with light, shielded handguard etc. Just my .02c

I recently bought my first shotgun, but still deciding if I really want to mess with it...especially after yesterday. Tried a couple of shots that logically shouldn't have worked (too far away) and the clays shattered beautifully. I've no idea what's up with my little $80 wonder, but yeah- shoot it and see how you like it before changing it too much.
Not sure how I missed this but at the shoot we have a TRAP field setup, not 5 stand. There might be 5 stations but just so no one shows up at a shoot asking where we are shooing 5 stand, that is a different clays sport. Can always come out and shoot trap with us though

Yeah, I hear you on all that. I looked at some stockless pistol gripped guns. Didn't like the feel of any of them. That, and having the option to beat someone down with the stock is kinda clutch for me. It's not specifically a home defense gun. I've went through a box of 90 clays on the first week.

Hopefully if you and the gun do the job right you won't have to use it as a club!

Thanks for the welcome.

Yeah. I can easily see this growing into something that I'm going to spend way too much money on.

Hate to have to be the asshat, but please take your finger off the trigger. It's just an excellent habit to get into. Personally the only time my finger is on the trigger is if I intend to shoot, or if I am doing dry fire practice.

I know it doesn't seem like a big deal, but trust me if you condition yourself that it's ok to do while the gun is unloaded it will carryover to when the gun is loaded, and that's when accidents happen.

The 4 Rules which you absolutely MUST memorize to be a responsible gun owner.

1.) Every gun is always loaded
2.) Never let the muzzle cover anything you are not willing to destroy
3.) Keep your finger off the trigger until your sights are on target and you are ready to fire
4.) Know your target and what is beyond it

Bonus invented by me: Safeties aren't! Never trust your life to one.

Also, NEVER assume someone knows anything about guns. The first thing my friend did when I handed him my M1A (I unloaded it first, and assumed he would check it as well) was aim it at my chest, and he was a boy scout that supposedly learned gun safety and handling. I was pissed, but I blame myself for not ensuring he knew the 4 rules. Now no one touches anything unless they can tell me the 4 rules, and if they can't I will repeat them aloud and then let them handle the gun. It sucks that you have to be so careful, but some people just don't understand basics.

I have heard shooting a melon with a 12ga is an excellent way to scare children into treating the gun respectfully, but older kids will most likely just say "cool!".

BTW: Keep that bad-boy loaded as an unloaded gun is just an expensive club; and you never know when you'll need it.
