Default Maverick shotgun repair question

I have a Maverick 88 12 guage that has a problem. The larger pin located above the trigger has sunk in and my pump action is now stuck. My issue is that I can't figure out how to dissemble it to try to fix the problem. I am far too poor to take it to a gun shop. Can anyone help me with the situation? Any useful info would be greatly appreciated.

Personally, I have no experience with this model, so I'm not much help. I do know that the Maverick 88 is almost identical to the Mossberg 500 (with minor differences). That being said, I hope this diagram helps:

I also found a link to a PDF of the owner's manual:

(Right Click, Save Target As)

Good luck with everything.

Is the action stuck open or closed?

If it is closed, use a pin punch or small wooden dowel to push that pin above the trigger assy out. The pin will push from either side with very little real force. Tap it out....dont beat on it.

Once the pin is out, pull the trigger guard down and out of the receiver. The entire trigger assy will come out.

If the action is stuck open, remove the barrel and slide the action forward before removing the trigger assy.

If anything feels tight or wont remove with minimal force...dont resort to more force.

email me with problems or question.

Thanks guys. Your inputs have been a tremendous help. It was in fact a lot easier than I thought to dissasemble, and the problem has been fixed.

I fixed this same problem on a friend of mine's maverick as well. I'm glad that others were able to help you out. I was kind of surprised with the design of the maverick as I can see how this can be a pretty common problem.
