I am considering purchasing a SG from someone out of state (WV) and was wondering what the rules and regulations for doing this?
Since theyr are an adjoining state...does that make a difference? |

Go to gunbroker.com and "Find a Dealer" near you. Have him send, or you send a copy of his FFL to the seller. Pay for the SG. Have the seller send the SG to the Dealer. Go and pick it up. DO NOT let the dealer collect sales tax. Dealers charge from 15 to 60 $ for a Transfer. The dealer pays the state $2 for the no tax transfer. The dealer needs to "log" the firearm into the Bound Book and back out, make a toll free phone call and send to the state a record of transfers every 14 days. The fees (State) are the same for long guns and handguns. Handguns do require one more from to be filled out. I charge $15, that's about a dollar a minute, but I have low overhead. (BTW, "no tax" transfers for ANY number for firearms is just $2. Example, guy orders 20 M44 from Aim Surplus comes in and pays one $15 xfer. The state fee is still $2)

I have a Dealer with a FFL near my house that I use quite often.
So the Seller will have to ship it to the Dealer... doesn't sound like a Face to Face is possible.... because of the out of state purchase... that sucks. Thanks for the info |
