they are good guns, and built very well. But they are big and heavy. good for bunkering down in a room, but clearing a room(prob shouldnt be doing that anyhow IMO) or carrying it for a long time i'm not so sure about. very fun at the range too

Thumbs up Re: Mossberg 590 questions.

I just bought the 590A1 last Friday, after much research.

Haven't got to shoot it yet, but plan on doing so this w/e.

I say go for it, the A1 if you can. Pick up an M7 on ebay for about 20 bucks, slap on a light, and you are all set.

How much was your A1? the 50660 model is on budsgunshop.com for 360 including shipping, which is a great deal, its the 290 special purpose with heat shield and 9 round shot, black matte finish.

I love my 590...well built, dependable and it holds 9 rounds! I have a pistol grip on her now, but someday I'm gonna get an AR style collapsable stock so I can have the best of both worlds!

Smile Re: Mossberg 590 questions.

I have two 590's, and two 500's. In the 590's I have my Big 590, and Small 590. Big is an 8+1, 20" barrel, blued, heat shield, fiber optic front site, 6 rd. sidesaddle, and 4rd. speedfeed full stocked model with a rail for one of my M-3 tac lights. Small is a 8+1, 20" barrel, parkerized, fiber optic front sight, with duel pistol grips fore and aft, with no buttstock.
I have had both of these for at least 15 years, and have never had a problem with either of them.
Big is a bit large for inside the home, except for a static defensive situation, but Small is short enough for manuvering in the house.
I'm a big Mossy man when it comes to shotguns. A while back I bought a Benelli Nova SP, but did not like it and sold it to a friend.
Take care of them and they will take care of you.

I paid 470 for my 51663. That's tax, PICS, everything.

8+1, parkerized, a much beefier barrel, and metal safety/trigger guard (vs plastic).

Default Re: Mossberg 590 questions.

I have had a 590 a1 for eight years. I have no regrets regarding it. It is solid and reliable. It is an updated trench gun, (in my opinion).

If you like it -- Buy it.

I have a 590A1. It's well build & solid....and under my bed loaded. I would say buy it.

I want to get a bayonet for it. A 12ga with a sharp pointy on the business end....how cool is that??
