I just got this weird Centurion home defense stuff. Six 00 pellets topped with what appears to be the worlds largest buckshot pellet. Don't know what it will do, but the price was right, and it just looks menacing.

It actually depends on the type of shot gun. Singles, doubles and pumps can use just about any load.
Those that have gas operated shotguns, using low recoil loads may not have enough "umph" to cycle the action. If you are set on using them with a gas operated shottie, I suggest you test fire them at the range before buying them for home defense. Just a quick reminder should any newbies want to know. |

I think 4,6, or 7 1/2 bird shot is all you need in your house. Go to the range with a couple of pieces of sheet rock and shoot it at 5-7 yards and see what happens!!!
If you shoot slugs or buck shot you may have a very BIG PROBLEM with over penetration in a home. I would not use this unless you new there was no one 3 rooms away that you aren't in danger of hurting. I bet a slug can go through 3-4 walls easily-bad news for kids sleeping down the hall Last edited by bt-99; May 16th, 2008 at 05:21 PM. Reason: misspellings |

Mine is loaded with 3in mag #4 buck
I think with the power of a shotgun even some birdshot would be prety devistating at the close ranges of home defense. But I still have buckshot in mine.

seriously, though, i would not rely on birdshot to actually penetrate to vital organs and stop a determined criminal from killing you. he might even bleed to death after he is done killing you, but that ain't gonna do you much good. |
