Default Mossberg 88 short barrel

I dusted off my old mosberg88 and decided it was time to give it a face lift! Now, where can I find a reallllly short barrel, I mean barely legal length for my mosberg 88? and a clip extention to match the barrel length?

I want to turn it into a home defence style gun. I know it was designed to kill birdies bla bla bla. And I dont want to buy a new one I Just want to spend like 150$ or less and have a cool tactical shoty!

I know most mossberg 500 parts will fit my 88 but im really unsure about some products.
Any one done this before or have any fun ideas?!

An 18.5" barrel will limit you to 6 rounds in the tube. The good news is that your 88 is probably already setup to hold 6 shells (most were). The bad news is that there aren't extensions. Of course, the point is moot, as more than 6 puts you beyond an 18.5" barrel length.

It's available directly from Mossberg:
http://www.maverickarms.com/pages/barrels.htm
90015: 18.5" PLAIN, BEAD SIGHT, CYLINDER BORE, BLUE $74

Or, you can also try here:
http://www.tjgeneralstore.com/moss-bbl.htm
MOG90015: Mossberg Model 500, 6 Shot, 12ga, 18.5 inch, cylinder bore, bead sight $89

Or here:
http://www.uniqueguns.com/Barrel%20Lists/12moss500.html
50090015: 18.5" Cylinder Bore $69

You said you wanted to spend $150 on it. If you spend $69 on the barrel, you'll have $81 left. From there, I'd suggest:

http://www.combathunting.com/MAVERIC...K_MARINE-.html
MAVERICK 88 SHOTGUN TOP FOLDING STOCK MARINE $59.95

You'll have $21 left... which would probably end up being spent on shipping.

PS: One part that does NOT interchange between the 500 and the 88 is the forearm. I believe that the action bars are part of the forearm on the latter, but 2 separate pieces on the former. I think this can be overcome with parts from the 500, however.

or save some cash, get the factory barrel clipped by a gunsmith.
its gonna be cheaper than a new barrel

Have it cut to 18.5".

skip the plastic top folder, they are wobbly, crappy, and break easily.
buy a Choate or such top/side folder for something sturdy.

Or... you could just do what Jay said.
I was trying to yield the maximum return out of a $150 investment in a $200 shotgun.
I may, of course, have erred in my enthusiasm.

Take a look at the Knoxx buttstocks. I have one on my Maverick 88 security and really like it.
