I recently aquired a Hunter Arms L.C. Smith field grade SxS 12 gauge. Through research I have been able to determine that it was made in 1913. It has 28" bbls with at least 65% of the original blueing. Some patina near the receiver. The case coloring is gone from the receiver but it is pretty much free from rust or pitting. The stock and forend seem to be of the original finish and in great shape. The buttpad is chipped near the heel slightly. The grip cap is in perfect shape. The shot gun is an extractor type as opposed to an ejector. It does have the special order three position safety. Anyone have any clue as to the value of this shot gun? (I know, this sounds like a letter to Guns and Ammo, but I highly doubt my letter would get published, let alone answered)
Thanks in advance, Jules |

Your description seems to put the gun in 50% to 60% condition. Without a visual inspection I would put the book value in it at $500.00 to $600.00. I recently purchased a field grade with single selective trigger and ejectors at the Allentown show for $500.00. The condition was about 70%. I thought the price was low. I hope that helps.
