Default Remmy 1100 vs. Benelli M1 Super 90

I am on the hunt for a fun shotgun to run around with, perhaps some 3-gun competition. I am somewhat of a Benelli guy, so I immediately started looking into the M1 Super 90 Tactical, but some of the folks I shoot with and respect shoot the Remington 1100 and love them. I am not interested in any other makes and models and will make my decision from these two.

I am looking for opinions and experiences on both guns. Who has beat the crap out of these guns and had no troubles? Or had lots of troubles?

Thanks in advance for your comments.

Default Re: Remmy 1100 vs. Benelli M1 Super 90

I have both (1100 and M1 Super 90 left hander) and to me the M1 has gone thru more rounds with no cleaning than my 1100. I have about 4500 rounds thru the M1, mostly sporting clay loads, and have had zero malfunctions. The 1100 has had a few, all be it very few, FTE's. I purposely have not done anything to the M1 but clean the barrel since I bought it 5 years ago, just as a "let's see how long it takes". With price out of the equation I'd pick the Benelli. My opinion only.

Benelli has better long term reliability.

The 1100 shoots softer and for many shooters...faster.

I've only ever shot the 1100 and was very impressed.

However, I handled and drooled over the benelli and I have to say just having my hands on it gave me wood.

I don't think you caould go wrong either way, but the benellli has the "cool factor."

They also have the model you can switch from auto to pump.

I've had used both a 1100CM & M1 Super 90 Tactical.

Sold them both and I am running a Winchester SX2 Practical now.

It's faster that a Benelli and softer than an 1100.

Taking it out to McDonald tomorrow to shoot the sidematch.

Yeah, I gotta say that if I did it over again I think I would strongly consider the SX2 or SX3.
