Default Practicing with your HD Skattergun

Hello everyone, so I've had my Rem 870 (18" barrel & knox adjustable stock) for about 4 months now & all I've done with it was shoot some clays at a local range once just to see how it was once I put the knox on it.

So what are some good practice routines that I can use at my local club to help me get more used to knowing my HD tool.

What do you guys use for practice & at what distances (I'm guessing here, but under 20 yds I'd say)

Talking Re: Practicing with your HD Skattergun

Just my two cents, and many will have different opinions. I would look at distance in your house, figure out the longest you would have to cover, and start there. If the far end of your kitchen from the far end of your living room is 20 feet, that's your distance. Get a couple of man targets, a box of slugs, and whatever buckshot you will be using. Stay consistent with your HD ammo, practice with what you will be loading it with for real. Check the spread, decide how many errant pellets is acceptable to you based on where you live. Try the slugs for the hell of it, you may like those more.

The FIRE Institute is hoping to host Randy Cain for Shotgun I course later this year. Hopefully we'll get enough people t ofill the course. I've not taken this one but have taken the Tactical Handgun 101 and my grouping shrank considerably.

How do you like the Knox compared to a regular stock?

I like to hear about the stock too if that is the model that claims to reduce recoil. I've seen the vids and I reckon I trust the company but I'd like some reviews from users and abusers of shotguns before I bite. Saigas took that problem away til it became a problem AGAIN!
