Default Ace Sporting Goods question...

I visited Ace Sporting Goods when they had the Smith & Wesson sale, and saw some good deals. Do they do a Springfield Armory sale?

Maybe a good idea to call them up. http://www.acefirearms.com/

I just bought a firearm from them (just so you know, I was able to talk them down from the listed price a little -- keep that in mind.) They mentioned that they'd just had a Glock sale in March -- a guy I know from work bought a G19 from them at that time, too. I think they're now having an "everything's coming up Rugers" sale. So a Springfield sale in the future isn't outside the realm of possibility.

Those two words... gun and sale, are so beautiful together!

Can't say if they have sales on S&W, I'm constantly hearing radio ads for "Glock Days" though.

Steve, have you decided on a model? You can call around and get quotes by phone. Lots of shops in the area.

Yes, you should not pay the asking price there in many instances. Then again, if you're spending more than $100.00 anywhere, and you don't at least try to negotiate, you're wrong....

I decided on the XD9 SC.

Since I am realtively new to the P'burg area, I only know of Ace, Anthony Arms, Gander Mt, and Cabelas. Ace and Gander Mt were at the same price. What other gun shops do you know of in the area that may work a deal?

Any off them might "work a deal" depending upon the circumstances at the time. Be sure to checkout Braverman Arms in Penn Hills and Sportsmens Warehouse. Also, there is a guy in Canonsburg that runs a small shop called Gun Runners (No, not Todd). He will order anything in for you at a very very reasonable markup plus shipping. The caveat is, you get what he orders for you. There is no picking over several guns of the same model. What ever comes in is yours unless damaged.

oops, my mistake Bravermans is in Wilkinsburg

If you are down around the Bridgeville area, you can try FireArms Unlimited and Federal Firearms

I don't know what part of town you're in but here are a few in the east...

1. Powell Guns - Penn Hills
Nice guy, will work with you on price a bit most times if asked politely. Fair amount in the display cases, lots of stuff in the "back room". His card says he will beat most quotes. Crappy hours.

2. Allegheny River Arsenal - Verona
I think they may be owned by same people as Ace though.

3. Braverman Arms - Wilkinsburg
Decent selection - not the best area, but you're not far from the parkway if you have to make a fast getaway. Kidding! (sorta)
http://www.bravermanarms.com/

4. Fazi Firearms - Plum/Penn Hills
Never been there, can't give input.

I've found that places like Gander and Anthony Arms are about $30-$40 higher than smaller shops for Glocks (as an example)
