The only time this shop is mentioned is as a side reference in a Boyers title. I have to say that I've had nothing but excellent service in this shop and he deserves the recognition of having his shops name appear in the line-up. There are times when he was cheaper than many dealers in the Valley. There were also times when when he was a few dollars more. I still went to him. Eric is a one man shop. He always acknowledges your existence, but might not have the time to get to you right that minute. So look around awhile, give the kid a break. Because when you are a customer, you have his absolute, undevoted attention. He's aware of who's waiting, so hang on, he'll get to ya'

Ditto on the above, I've dealt with him a few times on GunsAmerica and he's usally in the top 3 of prices on the eastern half of the state. Here's his GunsAmerica store link:

Kahler's Gun Shop in Lavelle. Off I-81 at Minersville, follow signs toward Mt Carmel, Make a left at the Turkey Hill in the middle of Lavelle, it's about 6 miles on the right. Small shop, has some neat stuff. Single family owned and operated. Has a break open .22 that was made in Philadelphia in 1894 or thereabouts for sale. It's pretty neat. Good people and easy to work with.

The present owner is a nice guy but IMO his prices are too high.

I have to agree about Eric being a nice guy. His prices are higher on some things, but he always has good stuff.
His shop might not be as big as some, however, you'll never find a High Point in his cases and he's never too busy to treat a customer well. I don't get the chance to go to Keifers much, but every time I do, I make it a point to buy something, even if it is just a box of ammo. I make it a point to support the shops that treat me well. As I have said in previous posts, I vote with my wallet. |
