ive been debating for the past few months on whethere or not to get a cetme (or clone) or a FN FAL (or clone)
In a month or so from what ive heard and read CAI is going to be releasing a small batch of cetmes (of unknown quality) but still the option to get something affordable, new and fun i was thinking of that route but recently i was in a local gun store and came across a CAI L1A1, and if my memory serves me right i believe it has one of the nice imbel receivers im looking for opinions on what to do really cause they are both in my price range (i dont want to dish out $800+ dollars for something thats going to be a weekend toy) |

I may or may not have one of each.
![]() IF YOU BUY A CETME, YOU MUST DO YOUR RESEARCH FIRST!!! (Learn about Bolt Gap, Ground VS UnGround Bolts, ect). Go to www.militaryfirearm.com where they have a Cetme specific forum, and where the grandmasters Cetme people post. I love my Cetme, its the sexiest battle-rifle ever developed, the charging handle is pure-bad-assery, the recoil is the softest out of any .308 battle rifle out there, and they can be incredibly accurate. However, it might take some minor (or major work on it if you dont do research) to get it to a point where its butter-smooth. It uses many HK parts and HK mags (which last month you could get 50 units for $50 on the net). Even so, if SHTF, I would take my FAL with me, just because these FALs are like Glocks, they'll go boom in just about any situation. Another thing to consider, is that Cetme cannot handle factory .308, you must use milsurp 7.62 on it. Actually, its the factory ammo that cant handle the Cetme Problem is that the 7.62 is just about dried up, so you must provide your own vaseline when you buy it, or you wont be able to sit down for weeks. The FAL does a little better with factory stuff, but milsurp is still recommended. Both are great choices and you will be happy with either one.
