I have been doing some fall cleaning in the safe and thought I'de get a pic of my favorite range time 22 lr.
It is a Stevens 416 Military issue from about 1944-45, It is stamped U.S. Property and from what I can gather they were used as trainers and the military marksmanship competitions, I believe that there were only a few made. It is a 26" heavy target barrel wearing an Unertl 15X Ultra varmint scope. At 100 yards I am dissappointed when I cant get a group better than an inch or so, The rifle is way better than I am and I have never had it in a bench vise to see what it can really do. I use standard off the shelf cheepo 22lr ammo, Whatever brick is on sale when I run low! Just thought I'de share one of my favorite old rifles! Peter

Only a few were used in the military, Mabey 1000 or so, The rifle is worth less than the scope.
The scope being a Unertl 15 power Ultra varmint is upwards of 700 bucks, Mine is from 1965 and has both steel lense caps too! Scope will handle any round with it's recoil springs and it's a quick release scope that holds it's zero, I keep it seperated from the rifle when not in use and dont need to rezero when I put it on, In it's day you couldnt do much better!
