Easy, and cheap fix though... I want to say a new replacement runs about $12-$15

And cosmoline... if you don't like cleaning, you better fined one that's already been done!

Mine. The day I brought it home...

Look a little closer!

Ewwwwww!!!

It's part of the fun of owning one!

I am really happy with mine.
I always say that I regret not buying one years ago.
Glad to see this one didn't get thrown in the gravel pile next to your lever gun !!

You will be pleased, I am sure. Tons of fun.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stripper_clip

There should be a pretty good read on the clips.
Basically just a piece of metal that holds X number of rounds (depending on the gun) and can be set into or ontop of the mag of the gun and the shells can be pushed in, to fill the mag quickly.
Once you get the hang of them, they are an ultra fast way to reload a rifle like an SKS.

Most excellent info !!

I remembered what they were as soon as i saw the pic. Thank you

Guess who's goin SKS shopping this weekend ?

Now the really final question......what should I expect to pay for an SKS ? New or used.

I've searched GunsAmerica and found prices from $275 up to $400.

Depends on the shop and how influenced by all the "impending doom" hub bub they are.
A yugo can be found at hops for 220-250 bucks out the door.
Just has to be the right shop, moon phase, lucky charm, etc.
I would try to haggle price and see where it gets you.
I paid 200 for mine several months ago from a gunshop in central PA.

Shakey,
If you have a Dunham's near you, they are on SALE for $179.99 SUN and MON ONLY.
After Mon. the sale price is $199.99

Also, Wolf 7.62x39 ammo is on sale for $4.99 box. Not a bad price for "by the box" purchasing.
