I have a Marlin 882SSV .22 Mag and a Marlin 25 .22LR and both are more than accurate enough for squirrels and paper.

I was talking to my dad today about a bolt action .22 and he said that he has a .22 bolt action that was my great grandfather's that was passed down to me.

It's a Marlin 81-DL.

I'm not sure I really want to use it all that much considering it's a family heirloom type of thing.

I just got a Marlin 925 for my GF with a bushnel scope, and I absolutely love the rifle. I paid 160 for the rifle and 50 for the scope. Well under your mark of 300. I must admit that I am not very familiar with many other brands of .22.
