Default 10/22 fun

I finally had a chance to test out my new 10/22 today. It seems it's got potential to be a good shooter. It's a Barracuda stock, Green Mountain barrel, Nikon scope, and a Hornet Custom trigger assembly.

Here's a better look at the targets with a 5 and 10 shot group off the bench at 50 yards. I'm sure I can do better with a rest more solid than one sand bag balanced on an ammo box and my back pack. I also have a few more varieties of ammo to test out so I'm thinking I can still find one that it likes a bit more.

The top group is 10 shots, the bottom is 5.

Gotta love the 10/22. Fun to shoot, easy to customize and cheap to feed.

Damn dude! That's one snazzy looking rifle. I can't wait until I get a 10/22. Probably around winter time. Mine is going to be plain jane, until I get a supressor for it

Wink Re: 10/22 fun

I'm torn with what to do with mine. Part of me wants to get the Tapco stock and go all tacticool with it, but another part thinks this little bugger could knock a flys dick off at 50 yards, why not modify it for accuracy and start castrating flys?

Decisions, decisions.

Of course the obvious choice is to get another 10/22 and have one both ways.

I shoot my 10/22 the most out of all my guns. I went for the tactical look. Plus the bipod helps shooting off the bench. My wife the gun for my birthday. I wouldnt have bought it at the time myself. But after shooting it I wish I would have got one a long time ago. My friends always comment about how fun it is to shoot. Tactical INC is the best mag I have found for them. I put a tapco stock on it and tech sights.
I think my next purchase is a supressor so i can use it on both the 10/22 and my p22

Cyo, it doesn't have a Ruger stock, barrel or trigger, you sure it's a 10/22? LOL. Nice looking gun though. They are fun to shoot.

Wow, those are so cool. I really want a couple 10/22's to take to the range. Who has the best prices? 2009 will be a good time to save on ammo. ;-)

For a complete rebuild like mine, the best bet to do it on the cheap is to look around and get a used 10/22. The only thing you really want is the receiver anyway, so getting a beat up and well used 10/22 is perfectly fine.

If you want to spend a bit, you can get an after market receiver... at which point Xringshooter is dead on because you won't have any Ruger parts at all. (Although the original 10 ring magazine is still the best, imo, for functionality. The Steel Lips get good reviews but I've only had one and it needed some tuning with a file before I could get it to feed reliably.)

I'm sure most folks are already aware of it, but if you aren't http://www.rimfirecentral.com/ is an awesome place for rimfire information for any type of rimfire handgun or rifle. If you have a rimfire question, that's the place to go.
