Default How do I mount these scope bases?

I got these weaver bases for my rifle, and noticed the slot in them. Which way does the slot go? towards the barrel, or towards the stock? Both front and rear bases have this notch. The instructions on the bag the bases came in offer no direction.

I'm guessing maybe I can do either depending on how much eye relief I'm comfortable with.

The bases can be mounted either way, and they don’t have to be both the same way. You decide how far apart the rings are to be and how much forward or rearward you want the scope. There is no answer, you decide.

Yes. I try to set them up so they are the furthest apart, but that depends on the scope and your eye relief. Be sure to set the focus first and then install on the rifle and adjust to your eye relief. It's a little bit of trial and error, about 10 mins. But that's the fun part.

awesome....that relieves me a little bit. The focus should be no problem with the scope, since it's side focus, so now I just have to find the perfect eye relief.

Thanks folks
