Question Which 22LR?

I am interested in purchasing a reasonable 22lr for fun and marksmanship practice. From what I read elsewhere, the Ruger 10-22 seems to be one of the most favored but many suggest an immediate trigger change to drop the pull from the factory 8lbs. to 2 1/2lbs. or so. Any thoughts or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

You can't go wrong with a 1022. You can leave it stock and upgrade a little bit at a time. Or leave it.

I've had a 10/22 for quite a while and it's been very good to me. Low maintenance and it's accurate enough for anything you might want to do with a .22

Ruger 10/22 Quite possibly the most fun you can have with a .22 rifle. As a stock rifle it was pretty good, but after tweaking the trigger group and changing the stock... Well... I go through ammo like crazy when I pull it out.

You can turn them into tack drivers, tacticool shooters, varminters, or just plinkers. It's a very versatile platform.

The best thing to do for researching 10/22's is to go to www.rimfirecentral.com We'll help you spend your money over there for sure.

CZ452 or 453. Much more accurate than a stock 10/22 and a much better trigger for $14 on the 452 (sub 2lbs).

On the 453....sub 16oz out of the box.....

Depends on what you want to spend? if your looking for an accurate gun, I'd go with the cz or the even an anschutz. you can get the savage/anschutz 64 action guns fairly inexpensive. once you shoot an anschutz you will be spoiled for life

I have a 10/22 and think it is a great gun.
Then I got a Marlin Model 60....
I am a model 60 fan now! Love that gun! To me, the tube feed is a lot easier than dropping out magazines, reloading them, etc.
On the upside for the 10/22 - it can be customized to high hell. I think it is actually rarer to see an UNMODIFIED 10/22 than it is to see a tricked out one.
The Marlin is not very customizable so what you see is what you get.
Marlin Model 60s can be had used from 75-125 and can be found new at wal-mart even for 147
10/22s can be had used for 100-200 depending on what it comes with, and can be had new at walmart (bone stock) for 189 i think.
