Default Put deposit down for my first AK!!!

Yep. I'm gonna get one to see what the all buzz is about.
I've had Mac-90 longtime ago, and was not too happy with its quality, and accuraacy(Acutualy, reason why it wasn't accurate is because upper recieve scope mount was loose. I'm certain of that).

But I didnt realize that price of 7.62X39 has gone up considerbly since last time I bought 7.62(which was back in 1995. I bought my Mac90 for $275 or something cheap like that, and box of 50rds russian ammo was something like $4.99...).

So this time around, with consideration of ammo prices, I went with one of these...

Polish Tantal AK-74 in 5.45x39. For just shy of $500 with 3 mags. And box of ammo.

They also had Romanian AK-47 WASR in 7.62, which was bit cheaper, but wood stock smelled.
They also had these thing

But trigger felt AWFUL, and no real good place to mount optics.
at my gunshop, i can buy 1080rds of Bulgarian military surplus 5.45x39 ammo in tin for $149. Corrosive, but I clean all my guns everytime I shoot it anyway.
in comparason, 7.62 was $129 for case of 500rds.

But i have to be honest. I hate the cheap plastic upper/lower forearm, and not too keen on wire side holder.
i'm thinking may be replace it with either under folder or Tapco side folder.
And mount red dot optics.
I think i've seen upper forearm with rail on it before, so likely to go with them...

the Pittsburgh group shoots arent that far from state colledge, plenty of people drive further.

After the next shoot we are having a Full Auto shoot at the club. Non-members can watch but not get trigger time. Well worth the trip.

Mity, do you mind me asking where you bought that AK? The shops in Lycoming and Clinton counties don't seem to carry them, just a bunch of AR-15s...

So, did you learn anything about the Tantal? Projectile test? Chrome lined barrel? I hope everything works out for ya!

Drive over to Philipsburg and coming down the mountain into town just past the industrial park, Belding & Mull is on the left behind the radio station. Great prices and great people to deal with.
