Because it's Wolf and their powder charges can vary drastically. Great to plink and it would beat 55gr, but I doubt it would get you under 1moa.....ever.

May try some to play with in the AR but the new Savage is for a precision match at 135 and 235yds. Some of the guys are shooting some very good scores and it will tak 3/4" or less to play. Do not know if I have the patience and skill to produce that quality ammo but am going to try.

You can get that accuracy. Load long to start and the load batches of Varget until you find the tuned load. Also use the same headstamp of brass. .223 brass varies greatly in volume.

Are you sure its a 1 in 7? I could be wrong but those are normally just for AR barrel's, I looked at savage's site and saw it listed as a 1 in 9. Either should work ok up to 77. My 1 in 9's bolt shoot the 50,60 an 69 well. Just wondering dont shoot the messenger...if youd like loads for any of'm msg me...

They come in two different twists in the LRP model this one is stamped 1x7. It was bought for a long range .223 by a friend of mine who did not really get it going.

Ah, I didn't see that he was going for accuracy.

I saw your post where you have shot that in your 1x9? How well did it work for you? I read that 75 is a bit heavy for 1x9.

Finally got to spend sometime at the range yesterday. Even with a old blind guy running the controls and with about a 15-20 mph. wind got some fair groups. One .306, one .386 and one .0821 with a called flyer(other 2 were .301). After checking several loads, these were loaded with 24.6gr. of Varget behind a 75gr. Hornady A-MAX 75gr. Moly. Second best loads were 25gr. Reloader 15 and a Sierra 80gr. HPBT Match King. As to the lighter bullets 52-63gr. they would not stabilize at all.

If somebody will tell the old guy how to post pictures I have some brag pictures to show.

I hate to but in but I will anyways...

Correct me if I wrong (And do so in a timely and painful method), but doesn't the military use the 1 in 7 twist to help tumble the bullets? I was rather sure the 1 in 7 combined with a 55gr hard nose was designed so that upon impact the bullet would bend and flip end over end? The twist rate helps give the bullet a little wobble and a faster spin to achieve this easier...

However now I understand they are using 65gr and in rare spec ops units the 77gr to achieve better accuaracy but its hard to find...

No..the military uses 1:7 twist to stabilize the longer steel core and tracer rounds. Longer rounds need more twist. The 1:7 twist is to keep them from tumbling and allowing them to hit their target.

The Nosler 77's are my next purchase. A friend who shoots NRA centerfire gave me some Hornady 75 and Sierra 80 gr. to try. As soon as the Real Estate taxes are paid and we recover I am going to put the rest of your advice to work. Thanks for the advice on Varget.
