Has anybody found great prices within a 30-40 mile loop of Reading.
Seneca-Handgunners are on my call list anybody else to try?
Thanks folks
PS and yes as per a recent thread I started it's for zombie invasion:-/
I "built" my Rock River Arms(RRA)AR-15 for much less than if purchased already assembled.

Here's what I "built":
(click on image to go to RRA site)

Currently they are listed as $650. (I paid $576 on sale in December.)

Here is their fully assembled rifle pricing:
http://www.rockriverarms.com/index.c...ategory_id=223
Listed as $930

Like I said, I paid:
$576
for the RRA A4 Kit
$100 for a stripped Anvil Arms lower
$676 Total

Even if you pay $650 for the kit, and add your own lower for $100-$125, it's still less than a fully assembled RRA rifle.

Something else to consider:
A "kit" like the one I purchased, is already nearly completed.
The upper/barrel are already assembled. About the only thing left to do is put the trigger assembly into a stripped lower, and attach the buttstock.

Now a full build may involve more work, but I wouldn't hesitate to build one from a kit.

Build one, buy one... whatever. Just GET one!
(I don't regret it one bit)

Here's where I purchased mine: (good people to deal with)
http://www.rbprecision.com/
RRA and many other brands available... some require you to e-mail for prices

A full build is really not that tricky...actually probably simpler than a lower build...but not cost effective unless you plan on doing multiple guns as the cost of tools is not worth it for one gun. Do two and you make money.

A Del Ton kit with a $100 lower runs about $560 complete.

What Lycan meant to say was that a bare bones, no upgrades Del-Ton kit with $100 lower will run you $560 complete.

just bought one of these for my first ar build. Out the door with paper work and tax it was 115. Now on to a kit.

Someone on ar15.com did the foot work for price kits last month. So if your looking for a cheap price here is the link.

Default Re: AR:get store bought or have 1 made?

The AR15.com post is helpful, but call for current prices before you make a decision one way or the other.

I noticed the list had "web site sucks" for M-A Parts.

Know that it sucks as bad or worse for Sherluk's (who always used to show up at the GPitt gunshows) website too.

I have no money, but even less free time, so a gun-show cash deal for a ready-to-rock Oly CAR-15 was OK for me.
