The 7mm. Mauser predates the 8mm. I believe that one of the most early uses of the 7mm. Mauser rifle was by Spain, in the Spanish American War.

This rifle sounds like a sporterized military Mauser, or a hunting rifle. I am not an expert though.

I am also a gun whore, I am just now realizing how much I have spent. Over the last 2 years I have accumulated another 28 firearms into my collection and sold none. In the past 4 months I have purchased9 of those 28. Some handguns, some shotguns, some rifles, some new, some used. Some of the guns are from gun shops, some from gun shows, some from auctions, some from the internet, some from bulletin boards, and some from the classifieds right here at PAFOA. I don't have anymore room at all. I have ammo out the Whazoo and need more cans. I am also in the process of buying a new home which has an enormous garage 40'x30'. I already have plans to build a secure/fire rated gun room to make more storage area. Man this needs to stop or I am going to need a second job.

My my.. You've got it bad. What is worse would be your answer if I were to ask you if you have actually shot any of the recent additions to your gun harem?

You need to come to one of our Gunaholics Anon Shoots. You can start with the thirty round program and work your way up to 250 round belts. Does you think that it is time to come out and deal with your problem head on?

This is a disease, and we sick bastards need to organize a shoot - hopefully in South Central, PA.

During WWII the Germans were using 8mm Mauser. They used this round in much the same manner as we used the '06. 8mm Mauser was used in the K98, MG 34 and the MG 42. I am sure that there were numerous other weapons that 8mm was used in, but I cannot accurately list them.

Mauser Pattern Rifles can commonly be found in 8 mm, 7 mm, 7.65 Argentine, 6.5 X 55 Sweedish and even 30-06.

I'm going to wait until August to take a group shot of the WWII stuff I've been collecting. Since I last posted my list I ran into 3 really unique opportunities. I have some really cool pieces that should get here soon... one is an M1 Carbine.

One gun I just received tonight is the Yugo M24/47 from JG Sales in Arizona. I have bought 3 guns from these guys and all have been in fantastic shape. This Yugo Mauser is awesome but it had more cosmoline than anything I have seen before. I typically take the gun completely apart and wipe it down with kerosene. For the rear sight, I used 100 psi to blow the cosmoline out. ;-)
