It dosen't say whether it was a Sniper to begin with that someone added the PU scope too, or whether 'Bubba' Drilled & Tapped for the Scope. As always, Buyer Beware.

Thanks TJ, I really think the rifle will go for $470. What would be wrong with a scope mount drilled and tapped? Accuracy?

Hey Tom,

Hopefully nothing would be wrong with it, Sometimes with 91/30's as numerous as they are right now, Unscrupulous people will grab one, take it out to the garage and start drilling. I'd make sure the dealer has a decent return policy just in case. The PU Scope mount does allow for adjustment as noted from the link I posted previous.

You should be very happy with i once you win the bid, I really like mine, Unfortunately I don't have a range close by for any decent long distance shooting.

Punch up PU Sniper in Youtube to watch some great videos of the rifles in Action.

Thanks TJB. I hope the rifle is a good one.

I just recently joined a shooting range. Indoor pistol range is 50' and a rifle range up to 400 yards. I haven't used the rifle range yet. Thanks for the info and if I win the bid I'll post back with the quality of the rifle.

Here is a pic I lightened up so you can see it better. Can anyone tell if the scope and mount is a good one? I couldn't tell if I was hit on the head with it lol. Unless of course it is a steel one. EDIT: I added a pic.

Hey Tom,

Looks Good from the Pic, Hard to tell any detail though. You might try contacting the Seller and asking him. The Rifle looks really good n the Photos, I like the Light Colored Stock.

The Scope itself looks like all the other post War produced PU scopes, Seems everyone has a different idea as to where they came from, I've seen ads saying they were produced post war on the same machinery as the wartime scopes and I've also seen articles saying they were current production, It's anybody's guess I think. The one that came with mine is pretty decent and has really clear optics.

Since you are like me, and only want it as a Shooter, You will have a Great Rifle there and have something to enjoy fo some time to come once you win the Bid.

That mount looks like it is steel. I bought a repro sniper with the aluminum mount and broke the large set screw mount. I replaced the mount with a steel one. Much nicer!

Personally, I would buy from Aimsurplus and maybe pay the handpick if you are worried. And ask them if their mounts are steel and aluminum. Although generally, their stuff is pretty nice as it is and the jury is out on the handpick fees. Buying from a dealer like that allows you to return it if there are issues.

Your other option would be to find an ex-sniper (that had mount the holes filled in) and restore it. You might save a little money doing that but it's a lot of work. A labor of love....

It's good to know the scope mount looks like it's steel. I didn't know to ask that question till after I hit the bid button. I guess I wanted one so bad I didn't research enough.

The rifle looks real nice and the seller sounds honest. I'm sure the rifle will be a good one. I really think the rifle will be mine for $470.00 + $25.00 shipping and $42.40 FFL fee for the transfer. $537.40 OTD. Ouch. If the rifle is nice and a good shooter it will be worth it to me.

If you wind up not getting this rifle, you might want to consider getting a C&R license.
Should only set you back $35 for three years and you'll never have to pay a transfer fee on anything over 50 years old or on the C&R list again.

Another option - find a better FFL. $42 bucks for a transfer is too much to pay. My dealer charges $20 per transfer and I do a lot of sales and buying through them. Once in awhile they throw in a cheapie/freebie to show their appreciation.

Ya $40 + 6% SST is kinda steep. I called several FFL's and they all charge the $40 and with the price of fuel its not worth traveling to an FFL that charges $20.00. My FFL is 2 miles away.

This will "could be" "might be" my last commie gun. I'm thinking I may start a USA and German WWI and WWII collection so a C&R license might not be a bad idea.

Tom,

If you go the C&R route, Be sure you have Deep Pockets. Once the UPS man starts showing up at your door with gun in hand, It becomes addictive. Till about 2 years ago, i didn't own any Commie guns, Now I have Mosins, Sks's, TT's, CZ's and AK's although the AK's aen't C&R.

For $35 you can't go wrong even if you only use it once.
