Well stated, you hit that one right on the nose. It seems like that people who go the Yugo route are traditional AK people who dont want the tacticool look. They want the gun for what is unmodified.

Thats the way I fell atleast. Granted I only have one AK (but have had experience with several others), but the Yugo was the most bang for the buck and I wasnt looking to throw a whole bunch of crap on it and personally im fine with the fact that as far as acessories go im kind of limited.

Spend the time and money bringing out the wood in an AK, thats where the true beauty lies.

From the pictures ... it seems like that are what I expected. What are the price on those? If they are around $500 - $600, then they are Romanian AKs with different furniture. You can do that yourself by buying any AK and replacing the wood with new furniture. I prefer the wood look myself, but that's just my feeling.

As far as I know there is no Yugoslavia any more and I heard somewhere (maybe posted in here) the Yugo AK47 plant was blown up a while back.

I have no idea which AK is the best but at the Harrisburg and York Gun Shows Romanian AK's being sold all over the place. I remember seeing them for $375.00.

Thats why I grabbed a Yugo as soon as I could. I drove an hour to a store to buy one NIB, almost as an investment.

Yes, they are around $500-600. I like the wood too, maybe I will go that route and change it if I want.

It's a Romanian "G" kit rifle modified with TAPCO or some other brand of tacticool. Quality will depend on who the builder was, which I do not know. Another important aspect is who made the receiver. NoDakSpud makes the best AKM receivers, and Globaltrades/Armory USA are second to them. The rest, avoid, especially if it had anything to do with Hesse/Vulcan. I do know, that no AK was ever referred to as the "Black Widow" historically or traditionally.

The "auction" site GunsAmerica has a lot of them listed, but at exaggerated prices (just like every other gun listed there).

Nothing else to add except read the links PA Rifleman posted, there should be lots of good info there.

To be fair, DCI is decent, too.
