How does the little 16" barrel compare to 20" barrel as far as accuracy?

The Stags we are looking at have a 1 in 9 twist. That's still good isn't it? How heavy a bullet can that stabilize?

My 20 inch Colt Sporter and my 16 inch Bushmaster M4 are comparable in the accuracy department. Both are excellent shooters out to 200 yards (in my hands). The heaviest ammo that I have used is the 62 grain SS109.

Barrel length has no practical bearing on accuracy when dealing with AR's.....but longer barrels yield more velocity. Free floating the barrel and opting for non-chrome lined barrels will get most guns close to 1moa shooters.

Twist doesn't really matter to bullet weight....but to bullet length. As most longer bullets are heavier, people tend to lump them together. But....a 69gr Sierra Match King has about as much copper on the lands as a standard 55g flat based spire point....so the 1:9 twist guns like both of those.

I've shot up to 77gr bullets out of my 1:9 guns and 50 gr bullets out of my 1:7 guns. All rounds were stabilized. My 1:9 guns shot the 55-69gr bullets best and then opened up about an inch with the longer bullets they didn't like. My 1:7 guns shot very tight with 77gr bullets, but open up about 2 inches with lighter bullets. That's just my experience with my guns.
