however, .223 chambers are a bit more accurate. but, since you do not list shooting the eyes out of flies at 500 yards as one of your requirements, i'd say 5.56 chamber will be plenty accurate for you (and me). ![]() Quote:

what he said...also i have a stag AR and love it got another one in the works the Stag 2HTL got the lower now just saving up for the upper
would recommend Stag and they are some of the only people that look out for us left handed shooters |

if your looking at stags all your going to get is a 5.56 chamber. I have a stag and love it, Im building a target rifle now tho thats going to have a .223 chamber but I want to shoot 500 yards with that.

Either one works with either ammo, no difference. .223 should be more accurate. Make sure 1/8 or 1/7 twist, you may want to do some real shooting. BTW, DPMS makes a fine left hand firearm.

that is not correct. the .223 chamber is slightly tighter and 5.56 ammo is loaded to higher pressures. this means shooting 5.56 out of a .223 chamber can be dangerous.

There is good info here. I need to add my 4 cents...
the first two cents: -listen to littleredtoyota. .223 =/= 5.56 next two cents: -the ar-15 is pretty lefty friendly already. I am a lefty and shoot lefty, the only thing non-standard on my AR is the safety is ambi. Otherwise, it's all normal and I don't have any issues. Just make sure it has the shell deflector (triangle piece on the side of the forward assist) |

Shooting 5.56 NATO out of some rifles chambered for SAMI .223 may be a little hard on the rifle, but out of an AR or AR clone will not be a problem, even if it's Nigerian crap.

. My question, which caliber, and why, should I get .223 or 5.56mm?
