I have one and I absolutely love it. Its a bit heavier than AR15, but it also absorbs recoil better than the AR. Be prepared to spend money for an optic because the sights are very rudimentary. Other than that, it is a very enjoyable rifle to shoot.

I have not heard much of anything about these guns and i was curious as to know why. Are they not selling? Is it not the rifle to buy? I'm sure the quality goes without questioning, its a sig. I'm glad to talk to someone who owns one and with good things to say about it. thank you for the info.

I got one also and ROCKETRIDER is correct in saying plan to buy some type of optic. I would the day you pick it up. Mine shoots better groupings with 62gr+ ammo at a 100yds.
The piston setup keeps the bolt and carrier pretty clean which is real nice unlike the standerd AR's. The only thing to think of is there isn't any cool accessories like the AR's if you like to trick'm out.

I love mine and I have been very pleased with the way it shoots, very smooth.
I agree that optics should be your first priority when you buy this rifle. You should go ahead and add at least $200 to the price of the rifle (for front and rear BUIS) when you are doing your comparison. |

I love mine as well. Easy to disassemble, accurate, reliable, and a good trigger to begin with. Some folks that don't own them complain that they are "front heavy". I haven't noticed and I've shot a few AR's. It is a bit heavier than the same size AR, though. That extra weight and the gas piston design do make it shoot noticably softer than an AR, and with less muzzle rise. Slightly nose heavy is a good thing, AFAIC. I love AR's, but they are boring.

I've done lot's of reading over the past few months between the AR's and 556's. I decided on the Sig 556 for many reasons, and just purchased mine yesterday at the gun show. I never shot the 556 or any AR's..but when you read and hear many people talk about how the 556 takes anything you throw at it..that sold me.
