You have to be careful when stating something is the best. Best is clearly in the eye of the beholder. I would be willing to argue that the 300 weatherby in the mark V is better and we would never resolve our differences in opinion.

My favorites are my Savage 16FLSS in .308 and my old Marlin 3030. Both do well within their capabilities, under 100 yards for the Marlin, the Savage out to 300 yards.

Remy 700 in 308 or my usual 7mm mag. (Not that the mag is needed just been using it for so long I love it..an its kinda like a lightning bolt.)
