I would think your field of view would really be obstructed by the front sight. I guess it doesn't bother a lot of people though... You CAN use these Hollagraphic sights by themselves, can't you? They aren't intended to be a rear iron sight replacement that must work in conjunction with a front iron sight, are they?
And no, my flash hider does not have a marking like that, nothing that I can see anyway. Is it possible that it could have been welded, but was then covered with a finish afterwards? I'll take a picture of my barrel in just a moment. Waiting for my camera batteries to charge... |

yes you can use them by thereselves or co witnessed with irons. Mine doesnt get in the way while shoot. with the holographic sights (Eotech)you focus on the target not the rectical u also shoot with booth eyes open you dont squint threw them like irons You wanna shoot one before you start tearing your rifle apart? |

Once you get used to the holosight you won't even notice the front sight unless you try to. Don't know if you wear glasses, but if you don't, ask someone who wears bi or tri focals and ask them how it was when they first got them. I can just about guarantee that they will say they were very aware of the transition point(s) when they first got them and after they got used to them they don't even notice it any more. It is the same when you mount a red dot or holosight (ie, Eotech), the more you use the holo the less you notice the fixed front sight even if it cowitnesses. But it still there in case you need it (how will you sight if the red dot fails). If you absolutely do not want it you can remove it as people in the above posts said or you can take a dremel with a cutoff wheel and cut the sight off and leave the gas block, bayonet lug (if one is attached) and sling swivel on.

I'm one of the guys that doesn't like a cowitness with a standard FSB. It seems cluttered to my field of view and perception.

its more cluttered if you use a absolute co witness, my eotech 553 has a lower 1/3 co witness and is a little less "cluttered" But i dont notice the FSB while shooting |

I can see the brake through my 1.5x5 short range scope and even that tends to bother me. Lycanhastohavethepaperovertherolltoothrope

I'm beginning to think that fultonCoShooter is right, it's probably a good to try an Eotech with front irons first before touching my rifle. PM sent.
Anywho, in the event that I don't like the front sight, here is a picture of my flash hider. Lycan, is this the washer you were talking about?
