Default Some questions about French Creek Preserve

Hi all, I'm looking to breaking in my 1911 this week, and had a few questions on French Creek's game preserve gun range on Laurel Road, specifically pertaining to the "handgun area":

1) In your experience, is it less busy on Friday afternoon than Saturday?

2) How do you set your targets up? I have some 10" paper rings that I need to attach to something--do I need to bring my own staples/nails?

Does the range have a moving target holder, or are they wooden frames out on the grass?

If they're frames, are there designated times where everyone goes out and staples their targets on, or does a range officer tell people to cease fire and set up new targets?

If so, what's the time interval?

3) I'm planning on going through about 200 rounds--will the officer give me guff about staying on the range for too long? How do people alternate booth use, if they've been waiting?

4) Do I need to bring a bag to collect the spent brass, or does the park clean it up? (I don't reload, so it would all go into the trash anyway)

Thank you in advance, and sorry for all of the questions!

don't mean to burst your bubble, but I believe French creek is still closed.
I know there are other threads on its status. Try there, I think there are in the chester county area near the bottom of the main page

its also called SGL 43 and its in the range area, not chester county. my mistake

Well dangit. Since there hasn't been a recent update, I went ahead and emailed the PGC about the reopening date--we'll see what they say. Thanks for the heads up.

I don't know what the new range is going to look like but they changed the target holders around a bit. If they made them like they did the old Scotia target holders they won't last very long. You'll need to bring your own staples and stuff which will make things easy.

As for the range officer.... There is no one there, the people leave their brass and steel casings all over the ground. Some people pick up the brass some don't.

While your out there good luck and don't get shot... There are many many people who are not very safe that visit the range.

Since your from the Philly area i would think about giving Targetmaster a look see. My friend has a membership there and we go on occasion there pretty cool about things and its not too far of a drive. It's also indoors and the range is open till 9:30.

Kenshin, thank you for the advice--I went Friday afternoon and put down about 120 rounds. The range is pretty nice, and the people were ok. I'll probably be going again in a month or so to continue break-in, but I'd like to still check out SGL 43.
