recieving a barreled upper

i FINALLY got my barreled upper back from OLY arms, after just shy of a 2 month wait. anyway when UPS brought it he said i had to show proof of citizenship and that i was over 21. is that right? i have to be 18 to buy the gun but 21 to get it shipped to me? that dont sound right. i know you have to go through an FFL for lowers but this seemed odd to me.

I must ask, just what does UPS consider to be proof of citizenship? Does their driver know how to determine this? Was everyone who worked for UPS that handled this package a citizen?

Citizenship? Sounds like BS.

UPS does have a check box for "Adult signature, over 21" so that is at the request of the sender. But the citizenship thing sounds made-up.
Are you of another obvious ethnicity? Accent? Just wondering why the UPS driver would take it on himself to inquire as to your citizen status... I'm an FFL and ship guns all the time and have not heard of this.

im white as can be and if i have any accent at all its a little southern because i watch too much larry the cable guy .

i knew the UPS guy so there wasnt a problem but he told me that he was supposed to check for proof of age and to make sure i was a citizen

There is no law that says you need to be a 21 to receive an upper. Under both federal and state law, the upper is not a firearm. A five year old could go buy one at WalMart if he had the cash, inclination, and transportation. There is also no law that says you need to be a citizen. The upper is nothing more than a random piece of metal in the eyes of the law.

The 21 years old thing was at the request of the sender or an internal UPS rule. And the citizenship thing he quoted? He's a fucking idiot, plain and simple. That's so far outside the scope of the rational and any policy that UPS could or would have that I don't know what to say.

UPS is only doing what homeland security is most likley making them do, just like what HLS put my wife and i through when they harrassed us and we had to answer questions from a "US census taker" that came to our door shortly after we moved from urban nj to rural pa

but they never stoped at our neighbors houses, and most of the questions had nothing to do with the census and was out of phase with census taking

it was a fineable offence not for each of us to answer the questions separatly

it is HLS hiding behind the censes agency to track moverments of people on their lists

all you have to make their list is to join the ACLU or another group the current govt doesn't like

we were both pissed and initally refused on their first visit and and got called by their boss, because it had nothing to do with the census !!

our govt needs to mind their own business !!!

I don't cooperate with the census, and never have. They can fine me if they want, but nobody makes me answer questions about my private business. Period.

I always answer the census and indicate, under penalty of perjury, that I am an American Indian. Funny, my community always has the best roads, the best school textbooks, and the finest community swimming pool of any of the towns around where I live.
