all AK's are "decent"... The question is, does it really matter to you that it is a true blue russian AK? If not don't waste your money, and get a post post ban WASR for less than $400 I have one and am very pleased. You can always trick it out if you want but for half the cost, you are best spending that on mags and ammo.

If you're going to spend that kind of coin on a rifle, get an AR. you can get a pretty nice starter rifle with flattop for that price.

That's about what the Izmash guns are going for, it seems, so it isn't pricey if that's what you're looking for.

Personally, I think that's a bit much to pay, simply to say that you own a "Russian" AK, rather than one of the zillion Romanian, Chinese, Hungarian, etc. ones.

I already have a nice AK that is a shooter and I'm in process of getting an AR15.I wouldn't mind getting the RUSSIAN as a keeper not as a shooter. Here's my AK :

haha i dig the SKS bayo on there, When i still had the wood furniture on my ak, i was thinking about getting it, but i would have to cut into it for the spike to fit the handguard. Did you have to drill out the front sight block? and is it sturdy?
