Right under the tabs along the top is a search box. I don't know about the question, but would like to know also. I just thought I would point you to the search box. Top left.

The best way I can figure to searh this site is to open the forums = click "new posts" = you will see " Pennsylvania Firearm Owners Association Discussion Forum > Search Forums" just under the searh box = click search forums and you will get a typical search.

The best advise I can give is go big as you can afford. Fire rated is a real big plus. There's a whole lot more you'll put in there than just guns.

I am buying a gun safe as well, for my gun room (aka man cave)
My main issues are, the weight, because I have to bring it down a flight of steps into my basement. And size, because of maneuvering it through my door way and down into my basement. And a price range of $600-$700. I found one that I am going to purchase. perfect weight and size. Here are few sites I was fishing around on. http://dsafe.stores.yahoo.net/gunsafes.html http://www.tcoverstock.com/index.php...&parent=7&pg=1 http://www.mystoragecabinets.com/index.html http://www.diamondbackgunsafes.com/

Guys at work were just talking about this. Couple of them have this one from Dicks:
http://www.dickssportinggoods.com/pr...ductId=2540210 But Wal-mart also has them that you can order: http://www.walmart.com/catalog/produ...uct_id=6457701 And Bud's Gun Shop has them at a pretty good price as well: http://www.budsgunshop.com/catalog/p...s_id/411535102 So there are lots of options around. Not sure which one I will get when I get one.

I have liberty safes. They do what need to. Hold guns and keep the floor from floating away.

Here's mine:
http://www.pafoa.org/forum/gun-pictu...w-lockbox.html It's a Remington-branded safe made by Liberty. Not sure if it's still available at Cabela's, or what they're selling it for if it is, but it's been a great safe so far for the price. Hope it helps.

I guess part of the question is what do you want the safe to do.
Do you want the safe mostly to keep kids out? Do you want it to keep just a quick smash and grab robber out or do you want it to keep a determined thief out? Very different safes and price ranges for those task. I've had a middle of the road Browning safe that's served me well. I'm confident someone would have to spent a good amount of time to get into it. However, I'm fairly certain that a motivated thief with enough time would be able to do that. It's also not such a fancy safe that it inflames thoughts of all the riches within. (I worry about super fancy safes having a paradoxical motivating effect on criminals.) Whatever level you get, it's certainly something worth having to insure your firearms are secure. |
