Default Restrictive states

Now that the SCOTUS has ruled, I am curious to see how many people think that eventually places like NY, NJ will allow unrestricted carry to everyone with a firearm license.

Something that is a long way off, if ever. The SCOTUS ruling is a step in the right direction, but there is still a long hard fight ahead of us.

I'm not sure how it would apply without going back for more SC decisions to force that specific issue. I could be wrong but Heller didn't even grant that in DC did it? I thought it only forced DC to issue licenses for posession in your home, not unrestricted carry.

The SCOTUS didn't incorporate the ruling for the 2A through the 14A. So until then, the states, counties, cities and non-federal districts are still pretty much able to do as they please. ...until someone challenges things and get the SCOTUS to incorporate.

And even if it does, the court ruled that carrying and possession could be regulated via registration and licensing. ...so its very doubtful without a revolution that places like NJ and NY will allow unrestricted ownership and carrying - ever..

Probably won't happen. The Supreme Court inserted dicta into the opinion that suggested bans on concealed carry would be upheld. They did leave open the possibility, in fact probably suggested the possibility, that the state would have to allow some means of carrying a firearm for self-defense, but that they would have a lot of leeway in regulating the wearing of arms.

That said, I wouldn't mind seeing open carry legal in all 50.
