Ned, what about the HK USC? What is your price range? PS90, FS2000, lots of guns that are going to be good guns to have once the ban comes along! (that is, guns that will demand a premium over run of the mill AR's and AK's)

Also, check in to the Robinson Armament XCR!

Ned, a few years back i bought an Armalite / Eagle Arms AR-15 with a heavy barrel, flattop (but it included the carry handle). I think I paid around $750 - $800 for it. I love the gun, but my "mood" has changed over the years. So, I bought a new lightweight threaded barrel for it last year (~$150), and a 6 position collapsable stock. I also put a scope on top of the carry handle and added a tactical light to the front rail. Oh, and I certainly had to protect the threads on the front of the barrel with a vietnam style flash hider. It's like I have a totally different gun now. That's what's great about them....and I can always switch it back when my mood changes. Shop around for a complete gun, I think you will find off the shelf guns will fit your needs and budget.
