I'm basically old fashion so you'd have to sell me own the carbon idea. I'm kinda looking at the AR like I would the Encore..keep changing it as my moods change. Can I do that with the carbon? Is the price prohibitive? Price doesn't stop me sometimes..I bought a 329PD and will not sell it til it is broken! I love that pistol and love S&W for breaking the barrier of lightweight 44s. I had a RockRiver Elite all picked out but the time I spent lining up my FFL guy and helping him to 'see' the model I was speaking of..gave me time to redetermine my choice 10x..lol. "Do see their website like I do!?" Rock River's website is topnotch for eyegoogling but Bushmaster appears to have more to my taste in selections. I guess it will come down to who I can get to sell me what I think I want..like usual.

No, not as "changeable" as a standard AR platform. Stocks are specific, handguard seems to be a one off CF free-float unit, trigger is USGI, pistol grip is USGI. You are welcome to see/try mine if you are willing to travel to good ol' NEPA

Got a proposition fur ya? No-no.. I'm heading to Sullivan county this here weekend. I mean to start off the new year with the 'bear lady of Sullivan County' proper. You free for a road trip? You bring your 'Carbon' for me to try and I'll let you meet my(our) bears if they are awake. If ya got kids and a wife-so much the better..cept for sleeping arrangements and fighting..and chores..and not relaxing atmosphere..and..you know if you got 'em... Smoke Break!

LOL!! Sorry buddy!

CF= Carbon Fiber, what the Carbon 15 is made of, very strong and very, very light.

USGI= United States Goverment Issue, Standard millitary spec parts, any AR (or ANY US weapon) made to USGI specifications has standard parts that are interchangeable with parts from even a different manufacturer of the same weapon (99% of the time).

NEPA= North East Pennsylvania as in Wilkes Barre/Scranton area

Ned, to add to your dilemma, if I can , if you're kind of handy you can build your own AR-15. They are very easy to put together and there's tons of info on the net.

You can also save yourself some money by building instead of buying, depending on what you want to build.

The other benefit is you can build a rifle in exactly the configuration you want and you can go as crazy as your wallet allows. You can even start cheap and work yourself into a spacegun if you want.

At this point, just about any lower receiver will work. I've heard good things about Stag Arms. I've used Bushmaster and DPMS in the past and I have no complaints. They are going to be a little more expensive though.

I'm a big fan of Bushmaster lower internal parts. I would recommend you not skimp on those. I would also recommend you buy the upper receiver, bolt and bolt carrier together from the same company. There are tons of options for sights, stocks and handguards.

+1. Good advice. I've built guns on the Stag lowers and they are IDENTICAL to the RRA save for the rollmark.

I've posted it before, but you can easily get a Stag lower mated to a semi custom upper for under $1000 and have GUARANTEED .5 MOA accuracy. You can also put a decent kit together for under $600. Shelf guns are overpriced in my opinion.

I have customs well over $1000 and kits as low as $515. Any member is welcome to flog the extremes when passing through western PA.

Ok..now I'm thinking panic buy after reading about the new AWB all inclusive crap. When does this vote happen? I'm not sure I have time to order from RockRiver. What about a DPMS rifle? I know a place that has them for less than the Bushmasters go for and I could just pick one up. Whatchas think?

If it;s that bad order two stripped lopwers for under $200 and build them when you want. The lower is considered the "gun" and you can build them anytime.
