Default Race Car Sponsorship (Ideas?)

Aside from guns, my other principal hobby is cars. Recently, I purchased a Formula 500 racecar that I will be running next season and I would like to team up with a firearms-related sponsor.

Not looking for mega-bucks here. More than anything else, I want to show my love for gunsports and use my car to help generate/maintain enthusiasm for shooting.

Where do I go or who can I talk to about this, just to see if there's any sponsorship interest out there?

Formula 500 (US and Canada) and some occasional local SCCA autocross events for fun.

I would start out with checking with some dealers first

I would suggest local dealers and ranges. Maybe send a letter or email to the local chapters of the NRA, VFW's and American Legions too?

+1 for S&W as well as other manufacturers. I couldn't think of a better hood (if that's what it's called on a Form500 car) graphic than the Bushmaster snake.

Maybe some of the megastores like Bass Pro, Cabelas, Gander Mtn. Or the .coms like MidwayUSA, Budsgunshop or impactguns.

Maybe a PAFOA logo on the side would be nice too, if you can convince the powers that be that you're worth it!

Me likey cars too!

There just aren't that many firearms related sponsors other than the manufacturers and the retail outlets/dealers. That may not be true if you count ammo makers, holster makers, optics, cleaners, etc. Actually, I guess you have a lot of possibilities. Start sending those emails and making those phone calls!

Formula 500 looks like fun, but that CVT transmission would drive me nuts.

Now that Thunderbolt Raceway is open, I plan on getting into shifter karts since that's the only thing I can afford these days. Plus, it looks like serious fun! Sorry to hijack, but here is a funny vid that some guy with a sense of humor put together. http://videos.streetfire.net/video/W...Kart_71953.htm

Good luck with the racing and sponsors.

CVT's no sweat. Get used to a lot left foot braking, though.

The ideas have been great, and obviously I can identify all sorts of manufacturers and what not, but I don't know where to go from there. Sending a blind email to a generic corporate address won't get me anywhere.

Seems like the best approach is to talk to the gunshops where I squander so much of my money to see if they can introduce me to their reps.

Somebody's logo would look great on my car's sidepanels.

If memory serves my right I believe Ruger had their name on some formula 1 cars. I'm talking in the maybe late sixties. It might be worth a call.
