Thank guys for the support. Up until a few months ago the last time I was at a range was when I was 12 or 13. Gotta love the Big Brother Big Sisters program for that. My big brother started me in the sport/hobby and it wasn't until recently that I got back into it. I've been reading and learning as much as I can to try and make sure that I'm not doing anything wrong. I can not say how much I appreciate this site, the people, and the topics discussed.

Rep sent.
Thanks again.

Chris

Generally, anything faster than 1 shot per second is considered "rapid fire". It's really going to depend on range rules, though - ask an RO. Some may allow "double taps" and some will always want no faster than the one second rule.

Yeah and on that note, if I realize that the range is full and the guy next to me is waiting to shoot so he doesn't get showered I take long pauses between magazines. I just shot 17 rounds then I should stop and reload a mag or something so that he has a chance to shoot. If he finishes and takes a break then its my turn to shoot again. Kinda like don't bowl when the person in the lane next to you is going. To me it just seems polite.

Yes, that is obviously rapid fire and a BIG video on youtube. However, my curiosity is more or less what most would consider rapid fire at a range that does not allow such. Blasting through and entire clip as fast as you can pull the trigger is obvious. What about 2 shots or 3 shots in say the same amount of seconds?
I was just having some fun partner. As far as range behavior I would just assume to use the best manners possible without being someone else's door mat. My AK is new and sends boiling hot shells at chest/face height up to 20ft to my right. I stay on the right of everyone if at all possible. If they say no rapid fire, I would assume that the rule posted 1 shot a second or less would be fine. If in doubt ask if you can double tap. I don't see a problem with pop pop... pause.... pause.... pop pop... pause... pause...

But maybe someone else will. I see that as being normal shooting.

However I do not frequent ranges. I shoot on private property where anything goes as long as anything being done is SAFE. Most times one person is shooting at a time. And we just walk off the line and someone else steps up to shoot. Guns are loaded ON the line, nowhere else. Simple stuff.

I am more comfortable knowing OUR rules, and doing what we please. I don't want to be hassled, or step on someone's toes if you will... so I go where I go. Then everything is clear, because I helped form the rules. So we bump fire the AK VS AR at the end of the shoot to see who can empty it faster. Might not be something I would do at a range. But its the advantage of having your own place to go.

I wouldn't worry about it too much. I was at the range the other day and finally took notice(Older guys at my range just walk around and sweep up every 5 seconds) where my brass actually flies. For some reason the one guy wasn't sweeping up my .45 brass(I'm assuming he realized I might wanna keep it as I picked a bit up in my actual lane after I realized it was underneath me). My brass outa my Kimber 1911 flies about 8 feet back and 2 to the right.... When I turned around and saw about 75 laying back there I felt kinda bad because two guys had their stuff right there and I had been firing while they were there. They didn't say anything to me so I'm not really worrying about it..

That's your answer. If they didn't say anything or you never saw them get pelted then you're not a jerk. If i'm at the range and brass is flying at me I just step back till they're done shooting, then step foreward and shoot when they're done. Sometimes you get hit with brass.

Nice built-in recoil buffer that guy has. That slide punched him in the gut 15 times in 2.3 seconds.
