Default Re: Too many firearm aquisitions cause for suspicion from the fuzz?

My father was called by the BATFE after purchasing 3 identical 1911 Frames at one time. They asked what he was going to do with 3 identical firearms, when he told them he and his sons like to build their own 1911's he ended up have a friendly chat with the agent on the phone about guns in general, collecting and building his own guns. That was all that ever came about.

Apparently they do sometimes check up on multiple purchases of handguns, especially purchases of identical items. Of course the funny thing is these were basically 90% frames, so required a bit of machining and a lot of parts before they were actual guns, never mind frame=firearm definition.

Look at it this way, if you are buying lots of firearms and THEN the government comes after you...

Don't tell them anything.

And then when they come after you with guns because you didn't tell them and you're automatically marked as a criminal or suspected terrorist or whatever...

You have a lot of guns.

I mean, you didn't make the problem, they did. It's not your responsibility to fix their problem.

CDNN was once selling some discontinued NIB models that I had always wanted at wholesale price. I purchased three of them at the same time to same on postage. Sure enough, the ATF was at my door a couple of months laters inquiring about the guns.
