Default Re: Do you think this will inhibit someone from getting a permit to CC?

It happened at a skating rink.

My relative was associating at said location with a kid who had been in trouble with the law (maybe previously) and even shortly after the incident in question for racial slurs. They were "following" a male of different race and words were exchanged and my mom is relaying this to me to the best of her recollection...anyway, something about a knife being involved but my relative insisted there was not. Apparently this took place outside of skating rink so perhaps a confrontation began inside the skating rink? This is unclear to us.

No offense Meleanie those who actively look for trouble should probably not be allowed to carry a gun.

+1 I was just gonna suggest that.

I'm in a fight now for my LTCF it's gonna cost me 1500 dollars plus 2 tips to the PRM to get it back. Why intimidation. I was never arrested nor charged though it is on my record. The penalty for the charges is a 100 dollar fine and 6 months in jail max.

Appropriate is subjective. This is exactly why people use racial epithets. You shout a term based on whatever first stands out visually. Calling someone fat is no different than calling someone a nigger. How the person being called the name chooses to react is up to them. These ethnic intimidation and hate crime laws are so one sided, it's ridiculous...but lets not get into that. Who knows, the Sheriff might find the story amusing.

I asked the Sheriff deputy that I work for today about this and he said he will most likely be able to buy a firearm and get a permit to CC. He agreed with me that this is unfortunate but he also said there are MANY people that fall into this category....those who will ruin it for the rest of us. Maybe I can convince this person NOT to go through with it. Probably not but maybe..... I don't know if that's cruel of me but if anyone else knew the person in question I just can't imagine you wouldn't feel the same.

Hummm,
Convince him to put you down as the character reference. Hopefully you'll get the phone call and then you can give the sheriff an earful.

Since this clearly demonstrates lack of character, and this is just the kind of thing
sheriff's look at when deciding toi approve an application, I'd say it certainly could.
Not that it will, but it could.
