Buckmark, The G30 is a bit thick thick for my hand. They do make a compact in .45.GAP but I don't know about the longevity of that round and the availability of the ammo it's not something you get at every mom and pop store.

Jamtter, Are the Kimbers really that bad? Have you ever owed one? Not being a smart azz just asking. Are you a firearms instructor? I'm more of a rifle man myself.

If your Glock kabooms, does that count as holding up the class?

Sorry, I had to do it.

In reality, I use the G19 in every class I ever went to.

I had 2 Kimbers a TLE2, and a Gold Combat. The TLE I got to fire 2 shots out of, in which the split times were about 2 weeks. I say 2 weeks because I took the gun out of the box, shot it once, and the slide locked back (as in, wouldnt budge). I sent it to Kimber to get fixed, and when I got it back and shot it again, it did the same thing. I sold both my 1911s, and I have since then put thousands upon thousands of rounds through my Glocks without a single failure. (and no, I don't clean my Glocks every time I'm done shooting them). If you want to sell 2 perfectly good guns to get a gun that's way too expensive, then go ahead.

No, I'm not an instructor, I have just taken classes, and in the classes I've been in the 1911's go down with monontonous regularity and the Glocks never have,

that $850.00 Kimber isn't going to kill your attacker any better than the Glock. All handguns are unreliable stoppers, it's hits that count. Pistol bullets poke holes, Rifle bullets tear things up. Ergo, all pistols are inadequate, heresy here, even .45's.

I've had 3 kimbers, all 3 were absolute garbage..but hell, i kept trying.
Custom Carry Royal
CDp
Eclipse II

all of them suffered MIM parts breakage, the CDP came with an partially unreamed chamber, and the CCR never finished a full mag without locking open with rounds still in it.

at the same time, my Colt 1991A1 worked great out of the box, even with 200gr speer flying ashtrays. i just replaced the plastic budget parts with metal, and did a 70 series FP block removal.
my NORINCO POS worked 100% of the time, and was crazy accurate for some reason.

I settled on a S&W 1911, its the finest out of the box 1911 I have ever owned in terms of reliability and accuracy.

what 45 do I CARRY tho?

HK USP 45 C, or my XD45

But I sold it to buy a Glock simply because I didn't trust my life on the USP. Will I buy a USP in the future, yes. Will it be a 45, yes. Will I carry it on my person every day, no.
